Fergus and Lynette Collie

The Collie family has farmed at Bayswater for 100 years. Fergus and Lynette both work full time on the 260 hectare sheep farm.

We have been farm hosting for 8 years since our children moved on to higher education.

We really enjoy meeting people and sharing our home with others. Our interests include travel, sport and family.

Our Property:

We are situated at Bayswater, which is 10 min drive east of Otautau in Western Southland. Our boundary is the Aparima River.

We have 3,400 Coopworth sheep, 12 hectares of barley which is grown for seed and 16 hectares of swedes (turnips) which are grown for winter fodder.

Accommodation:

We offer two Queen and one twin or single guest rooms with shared bathroom.

All beds have electric blankets. There is a large sheltered garden surrounded by trees - a great place to relax.

Our vegetable garden provides us with fresh vegetables all year round.

Activities Available:

Take in magnificent views of the Takitimu Mountains. We are within walking distance of the Aparima River with its bird life and excellent trout fishing. Duck shooting is available in season.

Tour our farm. Watch the dogs working stock.

A nine hole golf course and a bowling green are within 10km reach.

Getting There:

We are 45 minutes from Invercargill and its airport. We are 1 hours drive from Te Anau and 1 and a half hours from Queenstown.

From Otautau: Turn right onto Lieman Street at the north boundary of the town. Ian Watson’s agricultural spray business is situated on this corner. Travel over the Aparima River Bridge. Turn left into Bayswater Road. Continue for approx. 9km. The house is up a long driveway on the right. The Rapid number is 732.

From Winton:  Travel north from Winton on State Highway 6 and turn left onto Highway 96 immediately north of the Winton cemetery. After crossing over the Oreti River bridge turn onto the second road on the left and travel to Drummond Township. Turn left at the second crossroad past Drummond onto the gravel (unsealed) road. Turn left at the "T" intersection. Ours is the first house on the left.
